Interim printing of current edition in PAPERBACK now shipping

Portugal: Língua e Cultura is slated to be revamped in a new, full-color edition following the lead of Brasil! in 2002. We no longer have an exact date for release of the new "Portugal" edition.

The interior text of the paperback is exactly the same as the out-of-print hardcover version. The only differences are the price, the ISBN, and the cover. The cover illustration by Jack Davis on the paperback  version  will be used on the forthcoming hardbound  color edition. The ISBN for the paperbound  version is 0-942566-40-8. The list price for the paperbound version is $49.95.

Because the text of the paperback version is exactly the same as the current hardcover, instructors may continue to use their current hardcover desk copies.

Brasil! Língua e Cultura 3rd Edition wins the TAA's 2003 "Texty" Award

JUNE 21, 2003, RICHMOND–   The Text and Academic Authors Association has announced LinguaText, Ltd. as the winner of the 2003 “Texty,” the college level award for an outstanding textbook in the fields of language and literature, for the book “Brasil! Língua e Cultura” by Tom Lathrop and Eduardo Dias. The Text and Academic Authors Association created the Textbook Excellence Award in 1992 to recognize current textbooks and learning materials. One “Texty” is awarded in each field per year.
The Text and Academic Authors Association (TAA); Awards judges said:

“It would be hard to imagine a better presented, more informative text to teach beginning students about Brazilian language and culture.”

“I find this textbook to be well-organized, imaginative, attractive, inviting, and logical in its presentation and progression. I believe that it would be both enjoyable and profitable in the classroom.”

“I was delighted to have a chance to peruse this text and to discover that fine materials such as these exist for learning specifically Brazilian Portuguese. Now I want to take this course, and then take off for Brazil.”
